The French got off to a good start with Dunlop's Greg Gaultier winning his match 3-1 against World Number 1 Karim Darwish. The game was then levelled by Ramy Ashour who beat Renan Lavigne in three straight games. The decider saw Dunlop's Amr Shabana take on Thierry Lincou - two former world number ones and world champions, in a dramatic final. Shabana took the lead winning the first game 11-6 and Lincou went on to win the second game 11-7. The Frenchman took the lead in the third game, however Shabana fought back to win 12-10. The fourth game looked destined to be won by Lincou, who was winning 10-5 but Shabana dug deep and won the next seven points in a row to ensure his team won the title.
